T.K. sighed. He had not been able to enjoy a quiet time alone with Kari for more than two years. The last time they were together alone was right before the surprise party the digidestined had given her and Tai…. She had looked so full of love then…. Now she seemed unaware of anything else around her. She was swallowed up in her own misery…. I wonder, he thought, would she feel the same way if it had been me and not Ken who saved her?
Matt sighed. Mimi was a wreck. Tears slid down her cheeks silently and she made no attempt to wipe them. She wouldn’t talk to anyone, she wouldn’t eat anything, it was almost as if she was still in deep shock. But it was nothing compared to Kari. She seemed as though she would never recover from it. She had been crying since the accident and whenever someone tried to comfort her, she would either scream at them to leave her alone or just collapse on the comforter with more tears. He hated to see her like this. She was almost like a sister to him.
Cody was in shock. He had not cried or had not spoken one word since they arrived at the hospital. Everything was a blur to him… whenever someone spoke to him, he numbly nodded, even if the question was, “Cody, what’s your parent’s cell phone number?” he stared at the others. Most of them were worst off than him. Even Tai….
Tai felt simply lost. He felt as if his world were shattering right before his eyes. A few hours ago, it had been perfect. Everyone was happy, and he was just about to be together with Sora again when his world just crumbled. Tai looked around the waiting room. Kari and Mimi were a mess. Sora was trying to comfort Mimi since Kari seemed to get worse if everyone came near her. He could see that Sora was trying to keep it together for Mimi’s sake, even though it was clear that she was in pain too. Peesh. Her and her crest of Love, he thought, smiling inwardly. He ached to hold her in his arms. He made his way slowly towards her. They had not even had the chance to say “How’s it going?” let alone share a hug….
Sora looked up and saw Tai coming towards her. She felt a feeling reassurance enveloping her as she watched him. She quickly called out, “Yolei, can you help me with Mimi for a sec? I need to talk to Tai.” Yolei looked up and quickly wiped her eyes. “Sure,” she said quietly, her voice breaking. She had been talking with Davis about something. Davis looked as though he couldn’t believe what was happening to Ken. He looked crushed. Sora even thought she saw tears in his eyes. It’s not a surprise, Ken is Davis’ best friend, Sora thought to herself. She head Tai’s voice calling her quietly. “Sora. Can I talk to you?” Sora stood up and Tai grabbed her hand. “Come on,” he said, and quietly led her out of the waiting room, to the elevators, and out of the hospital into the park nearby. “How are you holding up?” Tai said gently. Sora looked at him. She had felt so responsible to be strong for the others in the waiting room, but now, she felt overwhelmed by it all. She looked into Tai’s chocolate brown eyes and collapsed into his arms. And started crying, letting out all the pent up feelings. “T…Tai…is Ken going to be…oo, o..kay? He i..s ..right? H..e …….hhas to ..be!” she sobbed. Tai felt his heat breaking seeing her like this. But he was glad she had finally let out her feelings. He hugged her tightly and whispered in her ear, “Everything’s going to be fine, don’t worry Sora, everything’s going to be fine…..”
