Mimi grinned as she saw the whole gang waving furiously to them. "Kari! Tai! They're over there!" she said happily. As they approached the group, she saw that everyone had changed. Yolei had started wearing contacts, it seemed, or else, she would be squinting at her. She was wearing a medium length jean skirt and purple sweater with a purple scarf around her neck. Izzy was the same, but had he gotten a little taller? He was wearing a green sweatshirt and blue jeans. Davis was energetic as usual. His scratched up goggles, the same one Tai had given him, was dangling from his pockets. He wore baggy brown shorts and a blue windbreaker jacket. Joe had done something to his hair so it looked more natural. Mimi reminded herself to ask him later what he did to it. He wore black jeans black jacket over a navy blue polo shirt. T.K. looked more older, and more cuter. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a sky blue sweater that matched his eye shade perfectly. His hair was the same, except it was without a hat. Cody had gotten a little taller. His hair wasn't so basket shaped anymore, he had let it grow and trimmed it so the edges fell naturally next to his ears. He was wearing khakis and a white longsleeve t- shirt. And last, but not least, Matt. He looks even more cuter than usual, if that were possible, and had a huge grin on his face. She studied him carefully as he came running towards her. He wore black jeans, and white jacket. His hair seemed even more gelled than usual.... WHAM! Matt came crashing into her. She gasped as he lifted her up in his arms and twirled her around. "WHOOOA! Matt put me down!"she giggled. "Not until you give me a kiss beautiful, " he said. She smiled and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Not in front of the kids," she joked. He looked dissapointed but happy to see her. Kari smiled at them. "Matt!" "Kari!" they shared a short hug and hellos.
Suddenly, a huge load of pink suitcases fell on top of Matt. "ARRRGH!!!" he yelled. "There! You get to carry your girlfriend's bags to the car lover boy! Hope you guys brought a van! " Tai shouted at him, laughing. As the two began to talk, Mimi took Kari's arm and pulled her towards the others. "Come on!" When they reached the group, they were smothered in hugs, tears, and even flowers, balloons, and candy.
After the lovefest, the whole group started towards the exits. Mimi glanced back at Kari, she was chatting with Yolei (actually, Yolei was talking nonstop and Kari was listening. She looked kind of sad though. Must be about Ken. When the group got outside, Mimi shivered. It was snowing. Matt put his arms around her and gave her a smile she knew so well, yet still gave little tinglings in her heart. Suddenly, she spotted two heads, one orange and one blue, across the street. She grinned. Kari noticed and grinned too. Mimi called out Sora's name, at the same time Kari called out Ken's. Both heads whipped around. Sora had not changed much since the last time she came to New York. Though her hair was done in a new style she'd never seen before; it was in a delicate twist high on her head with flower clips on each side. She was wearing red jeans and a long light green turtleneck. Ken looked as cute and gentle as ever, wearing khakis with a blue and white sweater. Kari started running towards them, waving her hands. Unknown to the happily distracted group, a car was roaring towards Kari, who was already halfway across the street. She froze in the middle of the street, paralyzed with fear, and her eyes went wide. Mimi screamed. "Kari! Watch out!"
Kari fell to her knees, screaming. I'm gonna die! she thought. She closed her eyes and braced for the impact. It never came. She heard a lot of screaming and the screech of a stopping car. Then, all was quiet. She looked up, tears blurring her vision. She saw a shadow in front of her on the ground, but the headlights were blinding. She binked a few times. What she saw when her vision cleared paralyzed not her body, but her heart.
