“Kari, Kari!” Ken shouted. He saw her coming towards him. He ran to her. He pulled her into his arms and closed his eyes, sighing with happiness. He hugged her tightly. “Never leave me again,” he whispered. “Don’t worry, I won’t,” she said. They stayed like that until Ken opened his eyes and she was gone. He felt his heart breaking, felt an unbearable pain in the deepest parts of his soul as he fell to his knees. “Kaaarrrrrrriiii!!!!!!!” he yelled, and bolted awake from the nightmare.
Kari gasped in her sleep. “Kaaarrrrrrrriiii!!!!!!” Where was she? Who was yelling? She opened one eye. The other one felt heavy. “Kari!” Tai was shaking her by the shoulders. “Wake up you sleepyhead!” he yelled. She sat up sweating. “Tai?” She said. “What do you want? I’m sleeping!” she snapped, feeling an unusual pain in her chest. “Kari! Get up! We’re here!” he snapped back at her. “What?… oh… oh my gosh!” she shot up like a bullet and looked around. Everyone was gathering their stuff and boarding off the plane. “Come on, Mimi’s waiting for us!” Tai said as he grabbed their bags. “Hold on a minute.” Kari said. She flipped open a compact and checked her face. She groaned. Her face was red and kind of sweaty, her makeup was smeared, her hair was rumpled, and worst of all, she had sleep marks on her left cheek. She started fixing her hair. Tai growled. “Come on!” he grabbed her arm and started walking towards the exit. Kari’s hair, which was in a carefully done french braid came loose, causing her silky hair to fall into beautiful waves. “Oh no! Tai! You ruined my hair!” Tai ignored her and kept pulling her until they were at the baggage claim area.
Mimi was having an easy time with her bags, all she had to do was spot the pink ones and let Tai carry them. Kari, still sleepy, grumbled, “You could at least let me go to the bathroom Tai.” “No time. The others are supposed to be here at 10:30 (a.m.) and it’s 11:40 now.” Tai said. That brought back all of Kari’s memories. Ken would be there too! Oh no! she was a mess! She was just about to rush to the bathroom, but Mimi perkily grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards the exit. “I can’t wait to see Matt again! Oh, and the others, of course.” She said loudly. Tai followed them, complaining all the way because he had to carry 10 bags: 7 big PINK suitcases (obvious who they belong to), one giant black duffel (Tai’s) one medium sized blue trunk and black suitcase. (Kari’s)
Kari’s heart started beating faster. In a few seconds, she would be reunited with Ken.
