Kyra sighed as she raised her long hair off her sweating neck. She was in her last period of the day; boring, boring, History. Even though it was close to winter already, her classroom had a broken heater, which resulted into a 88 degrees temperature. It was a pretty funny sight. Every one of her classmates has taken off their sweaters or jackets and were sitting in a pool of sweat. Even the teacher, boring Mr. Nohiru, had given up teaching for the day and allowed the students to work on their homework by themselves. Except everyone was either fanning themselves with their books with tongues hanging out from dehydration, or just sleeping.
Kyra sighed again. She looked down at her blank notebook. She had been trying to write her composition on Japan’s past history, but all that remained was a blank. She picked up her pen. But no interesting ideas came to her head. Frustrated, she threw the pencil and grumbled “Arrgh, I give up!” She banged her head down on her desk and tried to go to sleep.
Then, she heard giggling. Shut up! She thought. I’m trying to sleep. More giggling. Then, “Kyra!!!! Look up!” Uh-oh. Her head snapped up. There stood Mr. Noshiru, holding her pencil and massaging his forehead. Kyra gulped.
“Three days of detention for throwing a PENCIL?” Kyra complained.
Kari laughed. “Well, if you add hitting a teacher and giving him a bruise on his forehead, I think three days is not enough,” she joked.
“Kari!!!!!!!” yelled a frustrated Kyra.
Kari just laughed. “I’m joking!” she said, putting her hands up in surrender. Kyra slammed her locker shut.
As they walked out of the school, Kari was still laughing. Kyra felt very annoyed. Just ignore her, she kept telling herself. Kari finally stopped laughing to say, “Well, since it’s Friday, I gotta go to my journalism meeting,” she said breathlessly.
“Yeah, ok. Bye. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Kyra said.
Kari smiled again at the thought of Kyra throwing her pencil at the most boring teacher in the world, Mr. Noshiru. She checked her watch, and realized she was late. She started running. She turned a corner and bam! crashed into someone. “Ow!” she yelled as she fell on to the floor. Her things fell all around her.
“Oh shoot! Are you okay?!” she heard the person say. She looked up and gasped. In front of her, holding his hand out, was the most cutest guy she’d ever seen. He was tall and had spikey, jet black hair. He was wearing baggy black jeans, gray t-shirt, and black jacket. She flushed.
“Uh yeah.. I’m fine. Sorry about crashing into you,” she said as he grabbed her hand and helped her off the ground.
“Hi, I’m Hiro Takanata, and I’m new to Odaiba High. I’m just checking in right now.” He said. “And you are…?”
Kari was so busy staring at his steel gray eyes that she forgot she was asked a question.
“Uh… hello?” Hiro said.
“Oh what? Oh.. yeah, I’m Kari. Uh, Kari Kamiya,” she said, lauging nervously.
“Nice to meet you Kari Kamiya.” He said, and Kari felt breathless staring into his eyes, which were sparkling with laughter.
“Y..Yeah, same here,” she said. He smiled and left. She watched his back at he walked away. “Wow,” she whispered.
